Hand tools can take over where your power tools leave off. They'll help you smooth your boards for a top shelf finish, fine tune the fit of your joinery, and create beautiful wood furniture. So get started right.......or get back on track where you left off years ago. In this class you'll learn how to use the 9 basic hand tools: chisel, hand plane, dovetail saw, combination square, marking knife, sliding bevel, router, plane, and hammer. Then learn how to put them to work making the 3 traditional joints used in fine woodworking: the dado, the mortise and tenon, and the dovetail.

In this class, students will learn the basics of carving a basic kitchen spoon, one of the most comprehensive and practical carving exercises available. You will also learn how to carve a love spoon. This is a class for anyone who has ever wanted to add designs or decorations to "jazz-up" their woodworking projects. Specifically, those who have a woodburning tool in their shop or craft room that they haven't quite figured out how to use yet. Saman will show you the basic burning tips needed for any machine. Then he'll show you his way of using each of them to achieve any simple design that you might want to create. Bring your woodburning tools and let Saman show you how to put them to work for you.

Advanced Relief Carving

This class is intended for students who already have some relief carving experience and are ready to take their carving to the next level. Our instructor Saman has chosen a few patterns that will challenge the student to further develop their carving skills. Or, with instructor approval you can also bring your own design. In the class the student will work on advancing their carving skills. Particular attention will be paid to laying out the design on the wood to be carved, the correct carving tools to be used, and continuing to work on creating the sense of depth, making the subject appear to be 3 dimensional.

Have you ever wondered how those raised relief signs and wall art adorn the homes in Houzz, Pinterest, and design magazines are made? Then this is the class for you! Our instructor Saman will guide you through the creation of your own masterpiece for your home. Using stencils, Acrylic paint, wood panels, and Saman's own secrete paste each student will make a decorative 17"x22" sign or picture to hang in their home. The art made in this class will also make an amazing gift!

Join our knowledgeable instructor Steve as he helps you move your woodworking skills up to the next level. In this class students will make a classic Arts and Crafts End Table in the Greene and Greene style. During the class students will learn how to estimate and purchase wood for the table. Once the wood has been procured the class moves on to preparing the lumber, layout and cutting of the various joints, edge shaping, Glue-up/assembly, and more. The result: a solidly made, beautiful heirloom end table that will last forever!

Alex Snodgrass 3D Step Cutting Board

This is a great opportunity to create your own stunning 3D Stair Step Cutting Board with the master himself, Alex Snodgrass. Using only three different woods – maple, cherry, and walnut – Alex will show each student how to make a 3D Stair Step Cutting Board that will really impress your family and friends. During the class, Alex will answer all of your questions about bandsaws, while covering basic topics such as bandsaw mechanics, tuning a bandsaw, and making perfect straight or angled cuts. Alex will also cover topics including glue-up techniques, how to plane and will debunk some common bandsaw myths.By the end of the class, each student will have a fantastic 3D Stair Step Cutting Board made with their own hands! Leather Pyrography

This is a class that came about as a happy accident. Our carving instructor Saman wanted to add some embellishments to the leather chair he had made. On a whim he decided to burn scenes onto the leather and then embellish them with paint. As with everything he does the results were amazing! And a new class came into existence, he is very excited to share what he learned with others.So while not strictly speaking a woodworking class it uses the same tools as Wood burning so we thought why not.This class is for anyone who uses leather in their work, or for adventurous souls who like to experiment with new artistic mediums.Each student will chose the design they would like to create. Saman will then demonstrate how to use your wood burning tools for leather burning and guide each student through controlling the temperature and the basic stroke work used in leather burning.If time allows Saman will also show students how to add color to their creations with leather paints.

6Join this class to build yourself a Moravian style workbench using two contrasting woods (Maple and Sepele). This bench has splayed legs for stability, and it is easily knocked-down by simply removing a small tusk wedge from each leg. This makes it perfect for limited space and part-time workshop situations, such as sharing a garage with a car. Setup and knock-down is easily handled by a single person. The top is a full 1-3/4" thick, and split into two halves. A removable stop-gap is inserted down the middle, to use as a planing stop and to hold tools while working. Removing the stop-gap provides additional clamping options.The workbench uses the Twin Turbo vise, with an upgraded Speed Action handle. This vise is non-racking, with 14" between screw centers for working on long/wide work pieces.The vise is mounted on the end of the bench, where it doubles as a traditional wagon vise for use with bench dogs for holding flat pieces (long or short) on top of the bench. This ensures work is fully supported for face-planing, sanding, chiseling, routing, etc.
