According to Gerry’s chat with TMZ, he’s looking to prioritize location next time he ventures out into the dating pool, as it’s something he struggled with in his relationship with Theresa. Gerry shared that prioritizing being in the same place “eliminates a lot of the issues associated with long-distance relationships,” which is one of the main things that damaged his relationship with Theresa to an unfortunately irreparable point.

Gerry and Theresa’s relationship may not have lasted, but it’s clear the couple learned from each other during their marriage. Gerry, originally from Indiana, was open to dating whoever he met on The Golden Bachelor, but his relationship with Theresa became a struggle after it got so serious, so quickly. Theresa’s home state of New Jersey was a difficult sell for Gerry, but her family was too important for her to leave behind. Gerry, alternately, wasn’t interested in leaving his dream home, a waterfront property he’d hoped to live in with his late wife. Their differences were difficult to overcome.
