Me First and the Gimme Gimmes

I usually go out of my way to avoid cover or tribute bands here, but I’m making an exception for this longtime one. Filled with vets from the punk scene — include Spike Slawson from Swingin’ Utters, CJ Ramone and Joey Cape from Lagwagon — they have made a side career of punk-speed versions of punk, rock and jazz hits. It can be a total hoot, so check it out at 8 p.m. at Virginia St. Brewhouse, 211 N. Virginia St., Reno.

The show is Aug. 15. Tickets are $28. Details at renobrewhouse.com.

Mike Epps

Starting as part of the Def Comedy Jam tours, Epps eventually earned a second career as an actor, including films such as “The Hangover” and “Next Friday” (and the upcoming “Madame Web” Marvel movie). The show is Aug. 17. Tickets are $60. For details, call 800-342-7724 or visit harveystahoe.com.

The show is Aug. 23 and it costs $12 at the door. Details at lobarsocial.com.

Diana Ross

This legendary pop-soul singer has an unwieldy name for her tour: “Beautiful Love Performances Legacy Tour.” It does work, though, as Ross’ setlist is heavy on some of her classic love songs over the decades, including “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “Love Hangover,” “Upside Down” and even Supremes standards such as “You Can’t Hurry Love.” She’s back in Reno for this show at 8 p.m. at the Grand Theater, Grand Sierra Resort and Casino, 2500 E. 2nd St., Reno.
